The Alba heavy oil field lies in the UK Central North Sea, 200-kilometres northeast of Aberdeen. Alba's shallow reservoirs lie above the Britannia gas field. It was discovered in 1984 and brought onstream in 1994.Phase 1 comprised a single steel platform and a floating storage unit (FSU) on the northern part of the field.
