Report summary
Taishet will be configured in two lines, both with two rooms containing 176 cells per room (a total of 704 cells), and will utilise RA-400 technology (440 kA) for stage 1 and RA-550 technology (550 kA) for stage 2. Start up is in 2021 and total production capacity is 450 ktpa. The smelter is located about 10 km from the 11 ktpa experimental plant, Alukom Taishet. The Alukom plant was constructed in 2000-2002. The original intention of the investors was to establish a pilot plant ahead of constructing a full-scale smelter.
