The Trump Administration’s proposed tariffs on North American energy remain in limbo. A 25% tariff on Canadian and Mexican imports along with a 10% rate on Canadian oil and gas was delayed by 30 days in early February, leaving the path ahead unclear. To analyze the consequences of North American tariffs, we implemented a scenario that assumes a 10% tariff starting in March 2025 through October 2027, applied at the various US boarder import locations. In this report, we cover the following topics: - What continental trade flows would be impacted by the tariffs? - How will the tariffs impact gas prices at key pricing hubs? - Shifting pipeline flow patterns. - Are there drivers to offset the impact of the tariffs?
