The growth momentum in thermal coal that accompanied the economic recovery in 2021 and 2022 has reversed since 2023. By 2040, we expect production in ILB to decline by over 40%. Still, driven by growing demand in some regions, particularly India, we anticipate ILB's exports will double by the end of the next decade. Inflationary pressures and lower volumes triggered ILB's costs to escalate by over 4% in 2024. Growth capex and new projects will be limited in the region going forward, and we’ve flagged just two projects with a high probability of being developed.
