Report summary
On 8th April 2019, the China National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) published the Directory of Guidance for Industrial Restructuring (Exposure draft 2019), eight years after the last version of the Directory of Guidance for Industrial Restructuring in 2011. The current announcement reinforces the Chinese governments' desire to pursue high-quality, energy saving, environment-friendly and innovative industrial developments. The new directive is a significant shift from the previous one that reinforced the rapid and extensive development of the petrochemical/polyolefins market. The current agenda is to upgrade the Chinese manufacturing industry by defining which categories of industry are encouraged, restricted or eliminated, and collateral related policies. Will this guidance redefine China's PP industry and the entire polyolefins market?
