Building a brighter future

Since 2021, Wood Mackenzie and Let’s Share the Sun have collaborated to improve energy access for those who need it most in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico. Through three expeditions, our teams have installed solar panels and energy storage systems on homes and shelters for vulnerable communities. With each project, we’re addressing critical energy needs, building resilience, and creating lasting change. Explore the impact of our partnership through our stories of change so far to see how we have transformed lives and strengthened communities.

Casa Pueblo

Back in March 2022, in collaboration with Let’s Share the Sun, the first expedition took place. We set ourselves the goal of providing solar energy and battery storage systems to 10 families in a remote Puerto Rican community in Adjuntas.

Casa Julia

 While the 2023 delegation focused on efforts continued from 2022, we broadened the scope to help establish improved energy security for the residents of Casa Julia, the longest operational shelter for victims of domestic violence in Puerto Rico. See the impact the system has already made on residents below.

Impacting shelters

In 2024, our third year of partnership resulted in the largest installation yet, providing 100% energy coverage to a shelter with more residents than the shelter in 2023 and expanding support to families dependent on medical devices. This year marked a significant step in ensuring more communities could access clean, reliable energy.

Anna's Story

Anna, a bright 14-year-old woman, faces challenges due to an unreliable and costly power supply, making it hard for her to manage her health condition. Through our partnership, we installed a solar PV and energy storage system that has already begun providing the stable, clean energy she needs to manage her health condition more effectively. For people like Anna, reliable energy isn’t just about convenience; it’s about security, comfort and providing a sense of normalcy.

We have achieved so much already, providing ongoing support for families with medical needs across rural communities. Through collaboration and sharing resources, we can continue to broaden this impact. See how our efforts have helped Casa Julia.

Looking Forward to 2025

Looking Forward to 2025

In 2025, we will return to Puerto Rico with another team of volunteers, aiming to equip a new shelter for victims of domestic violence with solar PV and energy storage. We also plan to continue installing residential systems for families in rural areas, helping more people like Anna live without the fear of power outages. Our journey with Let’s Share the Sun is far from over, and we are committed to expanding the reach of clean, reliable energy.
