Haynesville Shale is back and better than ever

Louisiana plays: between chalk and a hard place? Louisiana’s onshore assets have been a quietly resilient. Permit activity has been stable for four years. And average lateral length per well increased by the highest footage ever last year. Exploration plays like the Louisiana Austin Chalk stole some of the Permian’s spotlight for a brief period through ConocoPhillips’ and Marathon’s programs, but ultimately failed to deliver. Nonetheless, there are other positive stories in the state.
