As Principal Analyst in the M&A Service, Greig leads Wood Mackenzie’s global research into upstream M&A trends, including assessment of corporate strategies and analysis of value creation. Greig also oversees and supports individual deal evaluation, and provides input to consulting projects. Greig joined Wood Mackenzie in 2012 from Brewin Dolphin’s institutional broking business, where he spent over five years as a sell-side equities analyst. Initially working as small cap generalist, Greig represented a diverse range of companies across the energy, mining and technology spaces. In 2011, after narrowing his focus of expertise, Greig achieved Extel ratings in both the Technology and Oil and Gas sectors (focusing on Oilfield Services). In 2012, Greig was the #1 ranked energy stock picker in the UK & Ireland (FT/Starmine Analyst Awards). Greig graduated from Heriot-Watt University in 1999 with an MA in Business Organisation, and spent the early part of his career as a software developer in the pensions and life assurance industry.

Andrew has over 25 years experience assisting majors and independents in the development of their exploration strategy and currently heads Wood Mackenzie’s Exploration Research. He provides analysis of exploration economics, strategies and industry trends. Andrew previously led the Exploration Strategy offering within the Upstream Consulting business. He worked with clients to help optimize their investments in petroleum exploration and advised on strategy, process, opportunity characterization and evaluation. As part of this offering, Andrew directed Wood Mackenzie’s series of multi-client projects on exploration, deepwater and Arctic themes. Andrew has been with Wood Mackenzie’s energy team since 1995. Until the end of 2001, he managed the team responsible for Sub-Saharan Africa research products and consultancy, undertaking a range of market analysis and regional strategy projects. He started his career in 1990 as an international new ventures geologist with Ranger Oil. Later, as Ranger focused on West Africa, he became project geologist for Angola. Andrew graduated from Imperial College, London, with a BSc Honours degree in Geology, and holds a PhD in Geology from University College, Cardiff.

Graham has over 30 years’ experience as a petroleum economist, analysing global fiscal systems. In that time, he has advised governments and IOCs on the full range of petroleum taxation matters and has supported industry associations in negotiating appropriate fiscal terms. Graham leads our fiscal information gathering, modelling and reporting and leads our global fiscal systems multi client reports. The latest, “A balancing act: global fiscal trends and benchmarking” draws on his wide experience with governments, most recently in Colombia, Ireland, Newfoundland & Labrador (Canada) and Lebanon. In the past, Graham worked for Petroconsultants, two independent oil exploration companies, and as a Research Fellow in Aberdeen University’s economics department. He is a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators, speaks regularly at industry conferences and leads training in petroleum economics and fiscal analysis around the world.
